Impact of Molecular Symmetry/Asymmetry on Insulin-Sensitizing Treatments for Type 2 Diabetes

چکیده

Although the advantages and disadvantages of asymmetrical thiazolidinediones as insulin-sensitizers have been well-studied, relevance symmetry asymmetry for biguanides has scarcely explored. Regarding symmetrical molecules, only one thiazolidinedione no evaluated proposed an antihyperglycemic agent treating type 2 diabetes. Since molecular structure defines physicochemical, pharmacological, toxicological properties, it is important to gain greater insights into poorly investigated patterns. For example, compounds with intrinsic antioxidant properties commonly low toxicity. Additionally, ligands are each associated affinity certain types receptors. An advantageous response obtained in therapeutic application may imply a poor or even adverse effect another. Within context general patterns, compound must be assessed individually. The current review aimed summarize available evidence utilizing insulin sensitizers patients Other applications these same also examined well various uses additional molecules. More research needed exploit potential molecules sensitizers.

Treatments for Type 2 Diabetes

G lucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) is produced by the proglucagon gene in L-cells of the small intestine in response to nutrients.1 It is an incretin – a gut hormone – that is responsible for the greater insulin response to oral versus IV glucose.2 Its major mechanism of action occurs through stimulation of glucose-dependent insulin release from the pancreatic islets. In addition to its insulinot...

Investigating the Molecular miRNAs as Biomarkers of Type 2 Diabetes

Introduction: Biomarkers would significantly improve the early detection of the disease and identification of individuals at risk of emerging complications. Diabetes mellitus is a group of diverse and complex metabolic disorders. Both type 1 diabetes (T1D) and type 2 diabetes (T2D) mellitus are associated with distinct alterations in the profile of MicroRNAs (miRNAs) in the blood, which are som...

Effects of Pomegranate Seed Oil on Insulin Release in Rats with Type 2 Diabetes

Background: Pomegranate seed oil and its main constituent, punicic acid, have been shown to decrease plasma glucose and have antioxidant activity. The objective of the present study was to examine the effects of pomegranate seed oil on rats with type 2 diabetes mellitus. Method: Six groups (n=8 each) of male Sprague-Dawley rats, comprising a control, a diabetic (induced by Streptozocin and Nico...

Mechanisms of early insulin-sensitizing effects of thiazolidinediones in type 2 diabetes.

Whereas thiazolidinediones (TZDs) are known to rapidly improve insulin action in animals, short durations of TZD therapy have never been studied in humans. Among the many known actions of TZDs, increased circulating levels of the high molecular weight (HMW) multimer of adiponectin may be an important insulin-sensitizing mechanism. We examined the effects of only 21 days of 45 mg of pioglitazone...
